THE FOCUS OF OUR PRACTICE
Medicaid
In a nutshell we serve clients who are worried about protecting their assets if they become ill an dneed nursing home care. We can help you get Medicaid (MassHealth in Massachusetts). This is the focus of our practice.
Guardianship/Conservatorship
Guardianship attorneys in our firm help you protect family members who are unable to make financial or health care decisions for themselves. A conservatorship or guardianship attorney assists the family in having the court appoint a legal guardian or conservator to serve in the best interest of the family member.
Special Needs Trusts
Special Needs Trusts (also known as Supplemental Needs Trusts) are drafted so that funds will not be considered to be owned by the beneficiary in determining his or her eligiblity for Mediciad, Social Security, Disablilty housing or other public benefits. Parents of special needs children should consult with a special needs trust attorney to ensure that the child's inheritance will be held in a special needs trust and protected so that it does not impact his or her eligibility for Medicaid, Social Security, or other public benefits. Appropriate special needs planning will help ensure the special needs child receives adequate support during the course of their lifetime, without compromising their MassHealth or medicaid eligibility.
