My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and needed 24-hour care when he was only 65-years-old. I knew it was going to be very expensive if he went to a nursing home, but I just couldn't take care of him by myself anymore. I was so scared that I would lose everything, including my home. The nursing home suggested that I call Eric and I am so glad that I did. Eric and Pam handled everything. They helped me protect my house and all of my savings, and I was able to concentrate on my husband. Whenever I had a question or concern, they were there to explain things and calm me down. I would always tell Pam that she was like my guardian angel, looking over me. I just cannot say enough good things about them. I would highly recommend Machado & Carden to anyone who is looking for a great lawyer.

Back in 2005 I was in a very difficult situation. My wife had been in a car accident and was in a semi-comatose state. At that time I was afraid that my wife would not be able to return home and that she would need nursing home care. I came to Steve for advice about how to protect myself financially so I was not impoverished by my wife's care costs. During this crisis Steve was patient with my questions and requests. He always got back to me promptly. His attitude was one of caring and professionalism and his knowledge of his profession was highly impressive. I truly look upon him as a friend!

When I came to see Eric, my husband had just entered a nursing home and I kept hearing a lot about applying for MassHealth. I was overwhelmed and wondered if there was a way to help my husband get assistance from the government and still be able to pass along some of our savings to our family. Eric was able to walk me through the application process and ensure that my children will have a financially solid future. He really took the burden off of me and my family. It pleases me that his record of success in this area remains at 100%. Should the opportunity ever arise, I would certainly suggest and recommend Eric and his associates.

We came to see Eric because we started thinking a lot about our future as we started to get a little bit older. We really only thought about updating our wills but Eric suggested that we sign Powers of Attorney and Health Care Proxies in case either of us could no longer make medical and financial decisions for ourselves. We never even thought about that before Eric suggested it! We really learned a lot about what our options are in saving our assets in the case of any kind of tragedy...our experience was very enlightening and informative! We are so glad we came to see Eric when we were both in good health. We feel so much more prepared!

I've worked with Steve over the last five years. Whenever I have a problem I know I can just pick up the phone and Steve is there to help me sort it out. He has always been a good listener and helped me work out family issues which felt like a burden. I would highly recommend working with Steve if you need an elder law attorney.

I had been trying to help an elderly uncle and two aunts fulfill their wish to live together and also to protect their assets for each other. Steve put together a plan for my uncle and aunts which accomplished their goals. Machado & Carden prepared and filed my aunt's Medicaid application and protected their assets so I can pay for my uncle's care at home. Steve always returned my calls and explained exactly what he was going to do so there were no surprises.

Steve was very considerate to our very confusing needs and concerns. He saw us at our most frustrated and emotional points and hung in there all the way with such grace. I had so much confidence in Steve and his firm. They were able to meet any crisis professionally and were wonderful at assailing my fears.
